WHAT IS A SIBLINGSHIP DNA TEST?
A Siblingship DNA test is conducted to determine if two children share one or both parents. The results of this test state whether they are half or full siblings. A siblingship DNA test is an indirect way to determine family relationships when an alleged father is not available for a paternity test. Results of a siblingship test may be used as proof in Social Security benefit and other inheritance claims.
WHICH SIBLINGSHIP DNA TEST DO I NEED?
A siblingship test starts with the analysis of your known relatives:
- Sibling 1 and Sibling 2 do not share the same mother and they want to find out if they share the same biological father. In this situation a half siblingship test is performed.
- Sibling 1 and Sibling 2 share the same biological mother but are unsure if they share the same biological father. In this situation a full siblingship test is performed.
In the Siblingship DNA test the DNA profiles are compared to see how much of their DNA came from a common father. Participation of the mother is encouraged to help exclude the mother's contribution to the children's DNA. Siblingship tests could be more costly and take a longer time to complete without the mother's participation.

SIBLINGSHIP DNA TEST FEES
Siblingship DNA test fees include two siblings and a parent. Additional siblings can be tested but there will be an extra charge. If no parent is included in the test, there will also be an additional charge due to the difficulty of the testing. If you need the results of the DNA test for legal reasons, such as for immigration, child support or adoption cases, you need to have a chain of custody test. The cost for chain of custody DNA tests for siblingship will range between $600 and $1,000 depending on whether we test for "full" or "half" siblings.
